quarentine question

i've had my only fish living on its own for at least three years. I figured it was time for some company so i bought him/her? an new tank buddy. I know i have to them separated for a period of time before i put them together... i just don't know how long. the newbie seems healthy, However he was bought from a petco. I don't want to risk the health of the old timer that I've been keeping happy and healthy for as long as I had him, but i really don't want him to be alone for the rest of his life either. I had the newcomer in it's cycled tank for about three days now... how much longer should i wait before introducing him in the main tank?

Every newcomer should be kept in quarantine for 2 weeks.
After this time all should be fine as stress symptoms and illnesses due to stress show up during this timeframe.

Any piccies of your new darling? What is his/her name?

i didn't give the new one a name yet. as named the old one Dunk.. figuring he was a boy. both are ryukins, the big one is about 7" and is just a plain orange. the new one has a completely white body with a red head and red on the tips of its tail. im not really counting on the colors to stay but i thought he looks pretty cool right now. pics soon   ;-)

Love the new fish.....such a unique color pattern on him/her.... almost looks as if it is wearing a mask.  No wonder the little Banditt stole your heart!!

Love the color of Dunk too.... He looks so big and strong!  They will make a stunning pair when they move in together.
