Willow or nympth??
« on: November 16, 2011, 03:36:53 AM »
Hi everyone! I was just looking for more information on my fish. I tried to post a pic but was told it too large & dont know how to fix this so i will just be descriptive. I purchased him 3 mths ago from a local pond store from a tank of black moors. He looks like a black moor in most respects-telescope eyes, black velvety appearance, & deep round body BUT he also has some differences. He has a bright orange tummy, one left bright orange eye, orange streaks in his tail, and a single caudal tail. I have done some research & have found references to him being a nympth or a willow. Is he a cross between a comet & moor or is he a genetic anomaly? What type of babies could i expect with a cross with another moor? Will he lose his unusual coloring? Any info is appreciated!!! Thanks!

If he is in all respects a moor with single caudal and anal fins he would be considered a nymph  I think. He is a genetic anomaly and probably shouldn't be bred.  You would probably get both single and double tailed fry from it tho. He will probably change color a lot and just guessing he will be orange by the time he is done changing.
