The next 4 months: feed heavily
Good and healthy foods for your fry:
1. Freshly Hatched Brine Shrimp:You can get the "kits" to hatch your own brine shrimp in almost any pet store. It is basically eggs and salt. Just follow the directions on the package or kit. You may want to add an airstone, but the shrimp will usually hatch just fine without one.
2. Hikari First Bites:Promotes proper feeding habits, long term health, superior disease resistance, allowing your fry to grow rapidly without the fear of dietary deficiences. Slow sinking granuals are great for newborn fish.
3. Liquifry:Make sure to get the Egglayer version of this food.
4. Eggyolk:You can use the yolk (yellow part) of a hard-boiled egg. Just take it and mash it up really well and add some water to it.
5. Frozen Hatched Brine Shrimp:These come in the freezer section of most Pet Supermarts and LFS. They are baby brine shrimp that have already been hatched and frozen. All you do is take a cube out, and feed it to the fry.
6. Microworms:You can obtain this kit from
www.aquaticeco.com It is basically a worm cultivating kit that you can do yourself. The worms are supposed to be very nutritious and the worms are slow-moving, so the fry can catch them better.
7. Crushed Flake and Pellet Food:Please be aware that this has to be crushed very fine (into a powder) and also soaked in water to make a kind of mush. Some people use a Pepper Mill or Spice Grinder for this. I would recommend a regular, small, coffee bean grinder.
