Trapped like a snake!
« on: May 27, 2011, 06:35:36 AM »

This little fellow had a big surprise when he tried to navigate my netting over the pond.  He got trapped and died - probably from insects eating him while still alive.  Pretty gross!  He was dead for a few days before we even noticed.  We did see tons of flies hanging around the pond, but because of the angle, didn't spot it right away.  Hubby had to cut it out of there, it was so rotted through the netting.   :puke:

EWWW!! Poor snake, and poor you too! At least he didn't die where he could end up in the water! :water:
I had some of that bird netting over my strawberry plants once. It kept the birds off, but a big bullsnake wanted strawberries for breakfast so he forced his way thru. We had a horrible time getting him cut loose, he was really mad. And FAT too, I couldn't see how he ever fit thru those tiny holes! But at least I got the satisfaction of seeing him leave under his own power.
