Watch Those Dividers!!!

As some of you know, I use a divider in Jaws and Hammy's tank when I feed them because Jaws is a HOG and pushes Hammy away from the food!
For those of you that don't know, my fish Hammy, is a demekin and is about 5.5" long and very broad, too.
Last nite, I put in the divider and fed them as always.  I then got busy and forgot to take the divider out.
Well, Hammy HATES the divider and she wants it out as soon as she is finished eating so that she can HURRY to Jaws' side of the tank and see if he left any food!   Yes, she is a HOG, too!
After a while, I came back in the living room and both fish were on the same side of the divider!!!  Somehow, Hammy squeezed her fat arse thru the side of the divider to Jaws' side, tearing off a few scales in the process!
Thankfully, other than the missing scales, no damage was done.  However, when I think about what could have happened, I shudder.
I did not use the divider when I fed them this morning and I am happy to report that Jaws did not mess with Hammy too much.  I will prolly not use the divider again now.  I can't risk Hammy being hurt in her greediness to get all the food!

Silly fishy. Tiny Tim squeezed behind my homemade cage a couple of months ago, no real damage though, but I just think what if I hadnt been here!

Thankfully, I don't have to use the divider anymore during feeding times!  Jaws seems to have finally gotten over his gluttony to have all the food to himself; either that or he has realized that Hammy is going to eat, no matter how much he pushes her!

, mine just seem to get on with it. They will just barge each other out the way, but since they are orandas and a shubbie, there isnt much difference in who gets what! the loaches will chase the goldies sometimes, but it all works out in the end.

Thank goodness scales were all that was lost.  Any of the dragon-eyed breeds lose their eyes fairly easily!  I'm so glad she's safe

Me too!!!!   She only lost two scales, too!  It is amazing that more did not happen as there was maybe 1/4" space between the divider and tank wall.  I have NO IDEA how she got thru to the other side!!!!!   When I found her, the divider was right where I had left it, not moved or anything!!!!

Nickie, what does this divider look like and where did you get it?  I may get one because Jack is getting less and less able to get to the food in a quick manner.

I got it from PetSmart, but you can get them anywhere.  If you look under our tanks forum, there is a post and picture of one just like mine that they have at Big Als.
