Watch what you clean your tanks with

I had the most beautiful Oranda named Peachy. We had the greatest time together and because I didn't pay attention I lost her *(..I want to warn everyone to keep up with any sponges you use for your tanks. Keep those cleaning sponges separate from your kitchen sponges. Your probably thinking yeah, that's easy to do. Well it happened to me a GF owner for many yrs that made a horrible mistake that lead to the death of a beloved pet. I did a normal nightly WC and decided that they needed their glass cleaned also. So, I grabbed a sponge from under my Fish stand and cleaned the whole inside of the glass. That night, I awoke from a terrible migrain to find Peachy clinging on to dear life. She was stuck to the filter barely breathing. I took her out, put her in fresh water and watched her die. Before she passed she gave me a look of suffering. I know in my heart she suffered and it was not a easy death. *( i had taken a cleaning sponge and misplaced it with a tank sponge. Not knowing the fate it would cause. Not only did I kill my fish but the tank had to be broken down several times and cleaned throughly until all chemical residue was gone. To this day I have no idea what was on that sponge, but it wasn't anything safe. R.I.P Peachy we all miss you still almost 1yr later
