We have discussed with the show chairlady about adding goldies to there show. She is receptive to the idea but it would have to be a club decision. This club is very koi orientated so I don't know if it will happen or not. The other 3 midwest shows that we go to, Louisville, Indy, and Chicago all have goldie shows in conjunction with their koi shows. Matter of fact the AGA Nationals was held in conjunction with the MPKS show in Chicago this year.

We don't expect to win alot with what we are taking but Im SURE we will have the most fun of any of the shows we attend. We just love this show and have made many friends that we enjoy seeing every Memorial Day weekend in Louisville.
We hope to leave here about 8:30 am tomorrow which will get us there about 4-5 in the afternoon. Get the fishies settled in and then enjoy a potluck with the club and others.

*Bruce on Lari's laptop* It's Sat. morning and Im coming to you from the beautiful Jameson Inn. ;) We got here about 6pm last night and got the fish settled in. They had a pot luck for everyone and then we came to the hotel about 8 because we were beat from our almost 9 hour drive. Lots of pretty fish both being sold and for sale. Saw a couple that Southwest Koi and Goldfish had that we are going to look at again this morning and see if we can afford them LOL Really high quality fish seem to be few and far between these days and with the economy the way it is the dealers are afraid to make the investment because it is so expensive to import these fish. Large fish are scarce partially because it has been HOT in the East and the exporters won't ship when its hot because the mortality rate is so high. Anyway, we'll let you know if we find anything we can't live without. Probably head back over there about 9 . Later

This really is Lari. Above is a slideshow of the goldies at the show.

We bought two black oranda (hopefully a male and a female) and one red and white ryukin. They are pictured on the slideshow, but I'll have to extrapolate their pictures separately later.

We've heard a little "buzz" about the winners. And it's not us. Not for the major awards anyway. Angel might have won something but it wasn't clear what if anything from the person who heard it. They do try to mostly keep these things a secret till the banquet. So that's tonight.

Well, we actually did win 4 major awards. Two of them were friendship awards that were lovely. The President's Award was a plate that had a goldy hand painted by the host's daughter on it. And Moosetta who is a huge oranda, (I dont think you all have seen her before) won Most Unique... LOL
One of the friendship awards was given to one of our little oranda babies which I think is reeeeeeeally kewl!!
We'll post more pix and details later.... breakfast time and then back to the show.

This is Moosetta, however we learned today that she wasn't the oranda that won most unique.

Angel was. Peter said he picked Angel because he wanted her to win a major award and unfortunately although she's a great fish there just wasn't another big award to give so she got most unique.

Wellllllllll, 3 new fish didnt satify our cravings... LOL
Got 4 more baby pearlies, 2 Chochokin, and a TVR before Paul at Rachumaniax packed up Sunday. Actually, the TVR was donated to the club by him and we won the auction for it. Give us a coupla days to get ordanized and we will try to get pix of everything for you.

Peter Ponzio said they are a ryukin with a butterfly tail when he assisted me picking them out. They are similar to a tosakin with a different tail but unlike the tosakin they also can be appreciated from the side and not just the top. I'll bowl them later and try for pix.

Actually, I didnt expect to win alot with the quality of the fish that were there...... This show is always super tough competition.
We took FOUR Best in Variety awards. Reserve Baby Grand Champion, and BABY GRAND CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a greater 'people' time at the show. Met some new friends and enjoyed having time to spend with old friends. Thought we'd laugh our selves to death at the awards banquet last night (pizza menu). Lari is working on a slide show ..... LOTS of Pix!

Reserve was a fairly new TVR. Cute little wiggle butt that is white with red on its fins and around its eyes. In lari's slideshow it is in with three other tvr in the pix.
Interesting story about the Baby Grand Champion. I was talking to Ron from Southwest Koi and Goldfish on the phone about 2 weeks ago seeing what fish h e had gotten in for this show. He knows we dont do much in Demekin but he knows how much Lari likes tosakin and was telling me that he had gotten a baby in that had a tosakin type tail. He said it was his favorite of all the ones he had gotten so I told him to save it for Lari and we would get it Friday at the show. It is just precious; its mostly white but has some red markings on it, and the prettiest tail youve ever seen...

Apparently the judges felt the same way as the rest of us.

Once they settle in I'll bowl them and get some good pix.

Attention Goldfish lovers in or near Minneapolis. There will be a koi show at the end of this month. July 31 and August 1st.
While there won't actually be a koi show, I just learned today that Southwest Koi and goldfish will be there as a vendor. They is one of our main sources for quality goldfish at the shows we go to. A father/son team from Chicago Ron and Mike Wynschenk (sp) . Ron actually keeps most of the goldfish they import at his house and we've gone up to 'visit' before to see his place and buy some fish.
In fact Ron provided the little demiken that won baby grand champ at the show this past weekend in Illinois.

Unfortunately we won't be able to attend this show this year. But if you get the chance or inclination to make it to the show and see them, be sure to say that Lari and Bruce recommended them to you.

There will not be a Goldfish show..there WILL be a koi show.

Because I often type then rewrite what I'm posting my grammar is also messed up on another sentance....I really do know how to write..I just don't proof enough.

I know they don't take credit cards. But they will take a personal check in good faith. It just costs vendors too much in fees to accept credit cards and they don't have that large of a business to be able to afford that.
